Coinbase Developer Platform and the Dev Portal is the destination for building and integrating web3 solutions, services, and products. We partner with other Coinbase products such as Base, Wallets-as-a-service, Staking, CB Pay, Advanced Trading, Commerce, Exchange so web3 developers can start building their onchain apps in minutes.

This role is for Coinbase Commerce, a powerful payment processing platform that enables merchants to securely accept crypto payments. With its user-friendly interface and seamless integration capabilities, Coinbase Commerce simplifies the process of incorporating digital currencies into online businesses using Shopify, WooCommerce or other platforms like Farcaster to expand their reach to a global customer base.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and high-performance fullstack systems for Coinbase Commerce using Ruby, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Solidity
  • Drive the technical vision and strategy for Coinbase Commerce, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize features, improvements, and integrations that drive the growth and success of Coinbase Commerce
  • Develop and optimize smart contracts using Solidity for EVM-compatible blockchains to enable seamless crypto payment processing
  • Design and implement highly interactive, responsive, and user-friendly frontend interfaces using modern frameworks like React or Angular
  • Optimize frontend and backend performance, ensuring fast transaction processing, smooth UI interactions, and efficient resource utilization
  • Architect and implement secure, reliable, and well-documented APIs for Coinbase Commerce
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex fullstack issues, ensuring platform stability, reliability, and security
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, testing, and deployment, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering processes
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering teams, and contribute to the overall technical direction of Coinbase

What we look for in you: 

  • 8+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on fullstack development
  • Mastery of Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Solidity; familiarity with Ruby is a plus
  • Deep understanding of Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains and experience with developing smart contracts
  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and shipping high-quality, scalable fullstack systems for payment processing platforms
  • Strong expertise in frontend development using modern frameworks like React or Angular, and experience with state management libraries like Redux or NgRx
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), caching systems (Redis, Memcached), and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of RESTful API design principles and experience with API development, integration and authentication protocols like OAuth and JWT
  • Familiarity with AWS and expertise in containerization like Kubernetes
  • Deep understanding of web security best practices and experience with implementing secure coding practices for financial systems
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to find elegant solutions to complex challenges in the crypto payment processing domain
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor teams
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Passion for Onhain/Web3 and a deep understanding of the crypto ecosystem and its potential applications
