As an Engineering Manager, Internal Data you will be responsible for leading a team of talented full-stack, machine-learning, and data engineers in the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge solutions. Your team will work on our client’s data projects and partner closely with a client-facing solution architect. Your deep technical expertise and experience with event-driven data pipelines incorporating online inference will be crucial as you guide your team through the entire development lifecycle, from discovery and solution design to implementation and deployment. You are passionate about mentoring and developing your team, fostering a high-performance culture, and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and contribute code when needed. Ultimately, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of business objectives, ensuring your team's work directly contributes to the advancement of BenchSci's mission and the success of the scientists who rely on us.

You Will:
  • Be accountable for your team’s components of internal data project delivery. Engage with Science and Product teams to facilitate the delivery of complex projects with high quality in a timely manner
  • Be the engineering leader in our initiatives and lead the development efforts internally and with our teams
  • Manage the performance evaluation, feedback, coaching, growth, and development of all engineers on your team
  • Own and drive execution of the technical roadmap
  • Take a leadership role in our recruiting, hiring, and onboarding processes
  • Help improve the processes and patterns of interfacing with multiple teams
  • Be accountable for the overall delivery of the internal data projects -- ensuring the quality of code and committing to the timelines
  • Work with the product owner and solution architect  to gather and refine the client’s requirements, and see development through to QA, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
  • Help prioritize work for your team, making difficult tradeoffs on design based on business constraints, ensuring on-time deliverables and high-quality software


You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience working as a software developer2+ years of experience working in a leadership capacity within software development
  • Solid experience building end-to-end solutions and optimizing the development environment, processes, and practices
  • Experience with end-to-end and client integration solutions
  • Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong experience with Python and programming fundamentals
  • Experience working with Data Solutions 
  • Experience with data engineering design patterns and best practices


Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Data ingestion and Data Pipelines
  • Experience building SaaS applications
  • Experience with Conversational AI
  • Experience with Machine Learning
