The Alliance Management group is responsible for ensuring the value of GRAIL’s partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. 



The Alliance Manager is a key role within the Pharma Partnership business unit of GRAIL, facilitating across internal technical and cross functional teams (Program Management, Product Management, Legal, R&D, Software, Bioinformatics, and Operations), as well as owning external relationship management. 



As the Alliance Manager you will be the primary point-of-contact between GRAIL and external pharmaceutical partners and will ensure internal teams are aligned with partner requirements as contracted. Having a strong background in leading, negotiating, and executing contracts is imperative. 



This position will be a remote position, based in the US (Northeast / East Coast).

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with partner companies to set the direction and scope for implementation of partnership agreements: define key activities, timing and responsibilities for parties, ensure effective and efficient partnership governance
  • Lead contract negotiations and execution for priority alliance projects
  • Establish network and facilitate knowledge regarding partner company, including company organization/leadership, business strategy, priorities and financial health
  • Establish credibility, trust, and respect internally and externally
  • Identify, understand, lead and escalate any differences between GRAIL and partners including strategy, process, risk tolerance, escalations, and program prioritization, working closely with program, product and project management where appropriate
  • Monitor implementation of and adherence to agreed-upon research, development and commercialization plans and work closely with project management to ensure execution
  • Liaise with product, program and project management, R&D, regulatory, legal and finance to provide information/updates as needed
  • Regularly engage with and update senior management on partnerships, communicate milestones, future opportunities, and any key issues and paths for resolution
  • Participate in new partner engagement, partner contract negotiations and provide input into terms including governance structures and processes
  • Ensures regular, effective formal and informal communication occurs between relevant parties externally and internally


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • 2 to 3 years in an alliance management function and shown leadership skills in life sciences or related industry or five (5) years of experience in related industry such as project management.
  • Strong contractual experience (leading, negotiating, and executing)
  • Experience managing pharmaceutical alliances
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to optimally lead cross functionally, interface with and influence technical, clinical and leadership team stakeholders
  • Proven project management, solution-oriented leadership, problem-solving and facilitation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Experienced presentation preparation and presentation skills using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Advanced degree in Science or business preferred
  • Experience in genomics preferred

The expected, full-time, annual base pay scale for this position is $89,000 to $111,000. Actual base pay will consider skills, experience, and location.


Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
